Sustaining Global Connections in Feminist Theatre and Performance Historiography

This two-day event will bring together theatre and performance artists and scholars from around the world for two interrelated events: 1) a virtual roundtable on the topic of “Worlding Feminist Performance Historiography (open to the public) and 2) a virtual authors’ workshop to exchange writing and share research methodologies, theoretical framings, and future research agendas in feminist theatre and performance historiography. All workshop participants are contributing authors to the forthcoming edited collection, Women’s Innovations in Theatre, Dance, and Performance, Volume 1: Performers (Bloomsbury-Methuen Press, expected 2025). Unlike many edited collections, where contributors remain anonymous to each other until the moment of publication, our goal as editors and project organizers of this authors’ workshop is to develop and sustain relationships across editors and contributing authors beyond the life of the volume to advance a more critical (and equitable) global agenda for feminist theatre and performance historiography—which largely continues to be structured around Euro-colonial and Global North paradigms of gender, culture, and aesthetics.
